RSVP – Who We Are
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) was established in 1971 by Senior Corps, part of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Each RSVP location is a separate nonprofit organization, benefiting from the nationwide effort to inspire older adults to volunteer and give back to their own communities.
RSVP connects volunteers age 55 and older with nonprofit organizations’ service opportunities in their community that match their skills and interests.
Little Dixie’s RSVP Story
Little Dixie RSVP was established in 1973 as part of the umbrella agency, Little Dixie Community Action Agency, Inc. The program serves older adults in southeast Oklahoma.
For 44 years, Little Dixie RSVP has been connecting older adults with community volunteer opportunities throughout Pushmataha, Choctaw, and McCurtain Counties. Each RSVP volunteer is an everyday hero as they serve by living, loving, and giving for a better community.
Through Little Dixie’s RSVP’s Volunteer Recruitment and Placement Program, we match the skills, talent, and experience of older adults with volunteer opportunities at area non-profit agencies throughout our tri-county service area in southeast Oklahoma. Our volunteers make our community a better place by delivering meals, mentoring children, participating in community gardening, serving at food pantries and distributing to families in need, and so much more!
The Little Dixie RSVP enriches the lives of older adults by linking them with meaningful and rewarding community volunteer opportunities by matching their personal interests and skills with essential volunteer needs in the community; helping to make southeastern Oklahoma a better place to live, work, and play.
RSVP volunteers are true everyday heroes! They freely share their time, compassion and talents to help make life better for others in need. Their actions are a constant reminder every day that a caring hear makes the world a better place for all of us.
RSVP’s mission is to engage persons 55 years and better in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers through significant community service work and personal development.
