YouthBuild
Little Dixie CAA, through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Labor, has teamed up with a variety of community partners to provide a new program called Youth Build. In the program unemployed or undereducated young people between the ages of eighteen and twenty-four work and learn to better themselves. The program offers participants a combination of on the job training in residential construction fields as well as academic classroom training working toward the attainment of a GED.
The Youth Build program is built around five key principles:
Academics:
Preparing for the GED through, working at your own pace in our classroom using computers and our instructors.
Construction/Carpentry:
On the job training building low income affordable housing.
Counseling:
Guidance and support in learning life skills to help the student succeed.
Leadership:
Giving back to the community through community service projects, public involvement and program governance.
